Welcome to
DP World Tour Championship
Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai
The DP World Tour Championship is a professional golf tournament, which serves as the climax of the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai and the season overall. Established in 2009, it replaced the Volvo Masters as the final official money event of the then-European Tour season, and it is held at Jumeirah Golf Estates each year.
The tournament is contested by the 60 players who have accumulated the most Race to Dubai points throughout the season, and with a $9 million purse it boasts the highest prize fund of any exclusive DP World Tour event. The DP World Tour Championship not only gives spectators the chance to see many of the world’s top golfers battling it out, but also the crowning of the Europe’s Number One – the player who has amassed the most Race to Dubai points at the event’s conclusion.
The 2021 edition of the event saw major-winner Collin Morikawa do the double as he won the tournament and in doing so also became the first American to win the Race to Dubai. He won notched 5 birdies in his last 7 holes to win by 3 strokes while 3rd-round leader Rory McIlroy fell away in spectacular fashion.

As the metropolis of the UAE, Dubai is considered to be relatively expensive when it comes to accommodation. In fact, the city is famous for its ultra-modern high-end luxury hotels. There are, however, a number of fancy-yet-affordable and budget hotels too.
Where to stay
Downtown Dubai, where the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountain, and Dubai Mall are located, is considered the business and commercial centre of the city, offering the best of the city’s shopping and entertainment.
Dubai Marina is by far the best area to stay for entertainment after dark. The marina is populated with licensed hotels and nightclubs featuring rooftop bars, which provide an impressive backdrop for a night to remember.
Jumeirah Beach Residence, meanwhile, is much quieter and more family-oriented. Accommodation here provides easy access to beaches and water parks during the day, and scenic waterfront restaurants at night for the foodies.
To immerse in a more historic and cultural side to Dubai, replace skyrise buildings for souks and mosques by staying in the inner-city suburbs of Dubai Creek, Bur Dubai, or Al Fahidi.
Dubai is also known for its purpose-built vacation islands, including Palm Jumeirah, Pearl Jumeirah, Daria Island, and the Burj Al Arab, which feature all inclusive resorts with their own restaurants, bars, waterparks, and more.
Dubai is connected by the Dubai Metro, which links each of its inner-city neighbourhoods. It is also cheap to travel by taxi, but traffic in the city can be congested at peak times.
